This is a pioneering study comparing university-level and professional online legal education across 13 jurisdictions from the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and beyond before and especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. The book examines developments in legal professions and traditions, university funding and ICT infrastructure.

This book concerns the impact of recent changes in technology (including the internet and artificial intelligence), as well as innovations (such as the changing ways of billing, new law firm structures and requirements and new employment practices) on the wellbeing of lawyers. There is evidence that the wellbeing of lawyers can be enhanced or diminished by these new practices and developments.

One of the main objectives of this research is to examine this influence and more specifically the influence of EU law on cooperation between public authorities.
